Second Officer
As the Second Officer on board, you’ll play a vital role as the Officer responsible for Navigation, working closely under the guidance of the Master. Your responsibilities will include:
- Keeping a vigilant watch during navigational operations.
- Planning and charting voyages efficiently.
- Ensuring all ENCs, ADPs, E-NPs, navigation charts, and publications are updated and corrected.
- Overseeing the maintenance of navigational equipment and aids to ensure they function effectively.
- Taking care of the upkeep and functionality of GMDSS equipment.
- Supervising cargo operations by maintaining a watchful eye.
- Monitoring ballasting and de-ballasting processes to ensure proper operations.
- Managing the ship’s hospital, medical inventory, and medical logs.
- Assisting the Shipboard Training Officer in guiding and training deck cadets on navigation and watchkeeping duties.
- Handling stationery requisitions, issuing, and maintaining inventory control.
- Acting as the Ship Cyber Security Officer (SCSO) to ensure cyber safety on board.

The Master shall have full authority and responsibility for regulating and assigning Navigational and Cargo Watches and implementing planned maintenance of hull and equipment to achieve best all-round operational efficiency. In this respect, the Master may assign additional responsibilities to the Deck Officers as deemed fit.
