As a Fitter/Trainee Fitter on board, you will work under the guidance of the Chief Engineer and Second Engineer. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the daily maintenance of engine room and deck machinery.
  • Managing the maintenance and inventory control of the workshop and associated equipment.
  • Overseeing the maintenance and inventory control of oxygen and acetylene systems and related equipment.
  • Performing pollution prevention duties under the supervision of the Chief Officer and Second Engineer.
  • Promoting and ensuring safe working practices on board as a Safety Representative, in collaboration with the Safety Officer (Second Engineer) and other elected safety representatives.
  • Carrying out security-related duties as assigned by the Ship Security Officer.

The Chief Engineer & Second Engineer shall have full authority and responsibility for regulating, assigning and implementing planned maintenance of Machinery Spaces, Deck Machinery and Cargo Gear equipment, to achieve best all-round operational efficiency. In this respect, the Chief Engineer may assign additional responsibilities as deemed fit
