Donkey Greaser / Oiler

As an Oiler/Donkey Greaser on board, your duties will be assigned by the Second Engineer and include the following responsibilities

  • Assisting with the maintenance of deck and engine room machinery.
  • Supporting the upkeep and maintenance of cargo gear, including cranes, grabs, and related equipment.
  • Performing general cleaning and maintaining the engine room and cargo gear machinery spaces under the Second Engineer’s guidance.
  • Participating in garbage management activities as directed by the Second Engineer.
  • Contributing to pollution prevention measures under the supervision of the Chief Officer and Second Engineer.
  • Promoting and maintaining safe working practices on board as a Safety Representative under the direction of the Safety Officer (Second Engineer).
  • Carrying out security-related duties as designated by the Ship Security Officer.

The Chief Engineer & Second Engineer shall have full authority and responsibility for regulating & assigning duties for implementing planned maintenance of hull and equipment to achieve best all-round operational efficiency. In this respect, the Chief Engineer may assign additional responsibilities to the Oiler & Donkey Greaser as deemed fit.
