Chief Engineer
As Chief Engineer on board you shall have full authority and responsibility for regulating and assigning engine room watches, maintenance of plant, machinery and equipment for safe and assured performance subject to following, including but not limited to
• Exercise overall control of the Engine Department.
• Responsible to the Master & Company for operations of the Engine Department.
• Planning of Surveys (Statutory & CSM) and Repairs.
• Maintenance planning of Engine Room & Deck Machinery.
• Assignment of the Planned Maintenance routines to Second Engineer.
• Monitor and execute record keeping of the details of PMS carried out on board.
• Monitor record keeping & control of Engine Spares/Stores.
• Monitor ballasting/de-ballasting, Ballast Water Exchange & Cargo Hold Bilge pumping operations in co-ordination with Chief Officer & Second Engineer.
• Planning of Bunkers and follow the Bunker Management Practice guidelines issued by the Company from time to time.
• Guidance to the Second Engineer regarding maintenance of LSA & FFA Equipment.
• Maintain activities & keep records of the MARPOL compliance.
• Oversee the Shipboard Training of all Officers and Ratings and the Shipboard Structured Training Program of all the Trainees on board and monitor their progress and report the same to the Company Training Officer as per the guidelines laid down by the Head Office on a regular basis.
• Ensure timely appraisal as per the guidelines laid down by the Head Office.
• Communicate with the standard monthly & periodical reports with the Head Office.
Comply with the Quality and Safety Management Systems at all times.
The Master may issue his own standing orders for the safety and efficient management of the ship.
