Chief Cook

As the Chief Cook on board, your duties will be assigned by the Master and include the following responsibilities:

  • Planning menus in consultation with the Master.
  • Handling the pre-preparation and preparation of meals.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the galley, reefer chambers, provision stores, saloon, bond stores, and linen storage areas.
  • Managing the inventory and maintenance of galley equipment.
  • Receiving, inspecting, and properly storing provisions, bond items, and saloon stores.
  • Conducting monthly messing inventory checks.
  • Monitoring and controlling the inventory and consumption of provisions.
  • Reviewing the Remaining On Board (ROB) provisions and preparing requisitions in consultation with the Master.
  • Conducting fumigation of accommodation areas regularly (at least once a month) to ensure an infestation-free environment.
  • Participating in garbage management activities under the guidance of the Chief Officer and Second Engineer.
  • Performing pollution prevention duties as directed by the Chief Officer and Second Engineer.
  • Undertaking safety and security responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Officer.
