Captain

As Master on board you will be over-all in charge of all shipboard operations and shall have full authority & responsibility for regulating & assigning watches and maintenance schedules for the safe and efficient performance of your vessel. These will include, but not be limited to the following :

  • Maintenance of Statutory & Class Certification with timely planning & conduct of Surveys
  • Assigning Navigational and Cargo watches, implementing planned maintenance of hull and equipment & responsible for assigning duties to Engineer Officers & Ratings
  • Planning of Repairs in consultation with Chief Engineer & Chief Officer
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality and Safety & Environmental Management System 
  • Communicate the standard monthly & periodical reports with the head office
  • Oversee and augment Chief Officer’s Planning & Maintenance schedules
  • Oversee all Cargo Operations
  • Guidance to Chief Officer on compliance with the Ballast Water Management Plan & execution of his duties as the BW Management Officer on board. Oversee Ballasting/De-ballasting, Ballast Water Exchange/Treatment operations, being executed by the Chief Officer & Second Engineer, assignment of Planned Maintenance routines to Second Engineer as they fall due, maintenance of the Ballast Water Record Book & Ballast Water Operations Log Book.
  • Communicate with Commercial Department with all matters relating to the Ship’s employment
  • Planning & Execution of Bunker Management Practice guidelines issued by the Company in consultation with Chief Engineer
  • Guidance to Chief Officer regarding maintenance of LSA & FFA Equipment
  • Guidance to Chief Officer on compliance with the Ship Security Plan & execution of his duties as the Ship Security Officer 
  • Guidance to Chief Officer on compliance with the Biofouling Management Plan & execution of his duties in maintain the Bio-Fouling Record Book on board.
  • Guidance to the 2nd Officer on compliance with Ship Cyber Security Management Plan (Vide SI 06 – Section 4), & execution of his duties as the Ship Cyber Security Officer.
  • Oversee the record keeping of SOLAS, MARPOL & STCW related regulatory documents and continuous updates
  • Appraise & approve all Voyage Planning activities with respect to safe Navigation of the vessel
  • Oversee the Shipboard Training of all Officers and Ratings & the Shipboard Structured Training Program of all the Trainees on board, monitor their progress & report the same to the Company Training Officer as per the guidelines laid down by the Head Office.
  • Ensure timely appraisal and their dispatch as per the guidelines laid down by the Head Office.
  • Carry out Daily VMT meeting and maintain records.
  • Oversee Welfare of the Officers & Ratings on board
  • Oversee handling of the Messing & Bond on board

As Master, you shall have the over-riding authority and responsibility to make decisions concerning safety and environmental protection & to request the Company for any assistance that may be deemed necessary
